Each page was drawn in varied layers in Illustrator.
I wanted to tell the story of life and death as a constant loop. As each baby is born a new tree is planted. The tree grows as the child grows and becomes the eternal resting place of the child at the end of life.
Life continues on through our children and their children. I chose to do the page with the mother and child different from the rest of the illustrations because I wanted them to stand out from the rest of the story. These pages are when new life begins.
